Being a SAHM/WAHM
It’s not as easy as it sounds, it’s quite the opposite. Let me tell you why.
11 years ago I was pregnant with my first child. I was a manager at a restaurant. It was tiring to say the least. Long hours on my feet, took everything out of me. I resigned at 7 months pregnant. And spend the last while getting ready for our baby. When she was about 13months old I grabbed a sewing machine and started making her goodies because I had too much time on my hands. Like really which mom of a toddler has too much time? Haha.
I fell in love with the idea of creating things. One thing led to another and I decided to start a small home sewing business. At first I got a lot of criticism and hatred. Nobody starts out perfect, right? I started with cloth diapers, and baby clothing. Now I’m doing it all. Adult clothes, cloth diapers, baby things and more.
Fast forward to 2023.
After trying numerous years for another baby, our prayers were finally answered. In March 2023 I found out I’m growing another little human. It was an amazing pregnancy. At 27 weeks old I was diagnosed with cholestasis of pregnancy. And everything turned my world upside down. From weekly hospital visits to being admitted at 31 weeks until she was born at 34weeks. 2 weeks in the NICU, and bringing home a premature baby. Nothing prepares you for that. After being sick and unable to focus on work for a few weeks with the life of a premature baby and recovering from emergency C-section, clients think life will just go on.
Then came yet another blow. I was rushed to hospital with tachycardia caused by stress when my baby was only 4 weeks old. After a cardioversion and defibrillation the tachycardia stayed the same. I ultimately had a cardiac ablation done in November 2023. After a few nights in the ICU I was sent home. Another 6 weeks of doing almost nothing except breastfeeding, I was so ready to get back to work! But, not all clients were as patient or understanding as the rest. Slowly but surely you find a way to just go on. Even with all the things that happened and threw me off course and baby in tow.
9 months later, I wouldn’t trade my harsh experience for anything. It made me stronger as a person and a SAHM/WAHM.
Clients who support you through it all are as good as gold. And I can’t thank them enough for their support.
In conclusion:
To put an end to the Blog, not everything is as easy as it seems. Being home and not working the average 9 to 5, is not easy at all. You are with your babies 24/7, and building a business. It takes perseverance like nothing else. I wouldn’t trade it for anything.
I am mom,
I am SAHM,
I am WAHM,
I am amazing.
Love, Rachalle
